Who we are
Founded in 2003, the Associació d’Amics dels Animals i la Natura de Sitges (AANS) has spent over two decades protecting the welfare of wild cat colonies throughout Sitges, including those in Port de Sitges Aiguadolç, Vinyet, and the Local Police premises. These colonies are vital parts of our town’s natural and urban ecosystem.
Run almost entirely by volunteers and currently led by President Fina Mata and Vice President Fer del Águila, our association is driven by generosity and the belief in respectful coexistence between humans and animals.
What we do
- Provide daily, organized feeding to local cat colonies.
- Control the population through capture, neuter and return programs (TNR method).
- Detect illness and transport cats to trusted veterinary clinics
- Monitor and maintain several gardens and green spaces in Sitges
- Raise awareness about animal welfare and balanced coexistence
- Work with local institutions to improve animal protection policies in Sitges
